Plymouth's experienced striker Warren Feeney insists that he hasn't given up on playing for his country again, despite being dropped from the recent Northern Ireland squad.
Michael O'Neill opted to leave the 31-year-old out of last month's squad to face Holland, with the former Shamrock Rovers boss keen to give youth a chance to shine.
However, his inexperienced side were trounced 6-0 in Amsterdam and Feeney told Sky Sports that he hopes his performances for Plymouth next season will earn him a recall to the international stage.
"At the end of the day I am disappointed because I love going away and playing for my country and the fans that come to watch are some of the best in the world," he told Sky Sports.
"It's something that I've just got to take on the chin, but I'm fit and ready if needed and I'll just focus on doing well in pre-season and taking it from there."
The ex-Oldham and Cardiff front-man made 30 appearances, scoring three times, for the Pilgrims in his first season at the club and insists that the new campaign can't start soon enough.
"I'm getting bored of the summer break already to be honest and I can't wait to get back into pre-season training.
"The most important thing is to let my body recover so that I'm fresh and raring to go when July comes round because that is when all the hard-work starts."
