Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch is waiting to see if Cardiff City and Reading show any concrete interest in signing Liam Lawrence and Hayden Mullins permanently.
Lawrence had a spell on loan at Cardiff last season, while Mullins enjoyed a temporary stint at the Madejski Stadium as Reading won promotion to the Premier League.
The midfield duo are both expected to leave Portsmouth on a permanent basis over the summer as the cash-strapped club try to reduce the wage bill.
Birch believes Cardiff and Reading are monitoring the situation, but is unsure if it will develop into any firm bids for the players.
"There is talk about Liam and Hayden, although the clubs are not falling over themselves to do business," Birch told The News.
"However, there is interest there. As ever, we are just waiting for things to develop.
"At this moment there is nothing concrete on either of them but Cardiff and Reading are watching things. That is all it is at the moment.
"I am not speaking to the clubs myself, an agent is dealing with that."
