Robbie Keane bemoaned referee Bjorn Kuipers' decision not to award the Republic of Ireland a penalty in their Euro 2012 defeat to Croatia in Poznan.
The skipper was left fuming after Giovanni Trapattoni's men were denied a lifeline at 3-1 down in the second half when his nimble turn was halted the lumbering Gordon Schildenfeld in the area, but the referee remained unmoved.
Keane felt his decision may have been influenced by the Irish not putting the ball out of play when Croatia goalscorer Mario Mandzukic lay injured in the build-up.
"I think so, yeah," he said, when questioned if he felt the two incidents were linked.
"It's definitely a penalty, there's no question about that.
"Their players and their fans were shouting for us to kick the ball out but, before the ball got to me, I think the fellow stood up or was just about to stand up.
"Whether the referee had that in the back of his mind, I'm not too sure. That's something you're going to have to ask him."
