Andriy Shevchenko has announced his decision to retire from international football following Ukraine's elimination from Euro 2012.
The former AC Milan and Chelsea striker bowed out of competitive games for his country as a second-half substitute in Tuesday's defeat by England.
But Shevchenko, who is his country's youngest and oldest goalscorer and record marksman with 48 goals in 111 appearances, will say his farewells to fans in a later friendly.
The 35-year-old was not fit enough to start against England in a game which co-hosts Ukraine had to win to reach the knockout stages of Euro 2012.
It was therefore a sad ending for Shevchenko's competitive international career as Oleg Blokhin's team went out at the group rounds.
But Shevchenko will have the memories of a fairytale night in Ukraine's opening game of the finals when he scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Sweden in Kiev.
Shevchenko's club future could also be subject to change, with his current deal with Dynamo Kiev due to expire in July and he has expressed an interest in a move to the MLS.
