Andy Farrell: Left his post as Sarries head coach on Thursday evening
Saracens have confirmed that Andy Farrell left his post as head coach on Thursday evening.
Farrell had turned down an approach to join the England coaching staff back in April to commit toSaracens.
However, the former dual-code international has now gone back on that decision and opted to leave the club.
Farrell initially joined England on secondment during the RBS Six Nations - and made a big impression working alongside head coach Stuart Lancaster and assistant Graham Rowntree.
Farrell, though, had stated at the time that he was staying with Saracens, commenting, "as a club, we have barely scratched the surface of our potential. The job isn't anywhere near half done, and I have decided I want to help finish the job".
Saracens confirmed his departure on Friday and announced that Kevin Sorrell, who had been part of the backroom staff at Saracens, is to step up and become the club's new backs coach.
"Kevin is making a swift and successful transition from outstanding player to outstanding coach. He is Saracens through and through, and we are delighted he has agreed to take up this important post," director of rugby Mark McCall told the club's official website.
Of Farrell's exit, chairman Nigel Wray said: "We are sorry to see Andy leave, and we wish him well in the future."
It would now appear that Farrell is free to take up a post as part of Lancaster's England coaching staff.
