Amir Khan insists he is fully focused on his forthcoming bout with Danny Garcia, but admits he is hoping to secure a showdown with Floyd Mayweather in the future.
Khan will take on unbeaten WBC light welterweight championGarcia on July 14 after seeing his rematch with Lamont Petersoncancelled after the American failed a drugs test.
Khan says the postponement of the Peterson fight, and the chance to win back the IBF and WBA titles, was a major blow to his plans, but is now looking to vent his frustration with a convincing victory over 24-year-old Garcia.
"It was quite hard for me to get over the whole Lamont Peterson issue because I had a tough training camp, from LA to the Philippines and back again," he told Sky Sports News HD.
"There was so much travelling and focus for ten weeks, dieting and eating the right food and then a week before the fight it was called off.
"So it was very hard for me to get over, but I've been very lucky to get this other fight against Danny Garcia.
"Danny Garcia is a WBC champion so it gives me an opportunity to fight for that title, plus he's an unbeaten fighter and recognised as a great champion, so it's going to be great for me to get back in the ring and let all that aggression out on July 14.

Big fight

"It's going to be a big fight for me whatever, Danny Garcia has never tasted defeat before so he's going to be very confident, but I'm going to be ready for this fight, I've had an extra little bit of training from the last camp so I'm going to take that in with me."
Khan revealed that his clash with Garcia is likely to be his last in the 140-pound division and confirmed he will be looking to take on the sport's biggest names after he steps up - especially the undefeated Mayweather.
"There's a lot of talk about a fight with Floyd Mayweather, but I'm taking each fight at a time," he continued.
"Garcia's a great champion and I want to take care of him. He's another unbeaten fighter who I'm fighting, now hopefully I'm going to take care of him and then move up to 147.
"Then maybe I'll have one more fight at 147 before I go on to the big, big names like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, but like I said it's a step at a time, I'm not looking too far ahead.
"I've got ambitions in life to face the best, like Floyd Mayweather, but it's a waiting game at the moment, I've got Garcia in front of me at the moment and I'm 100 per cent focused on him."
